Band Photography
This is something I do mainly for fun. Some bands have started paying me for it because they liked the results. I use a Canon digital camera, the Powershot A50. It has excellent light sensitivity and a very good lense, two attributes that are much more important than megapixels. As you'll see from the shots, the low resolution and jpeg compression helps to create very nice looking pictures. I usually take care with framing and composing the picture there and then, but sometimes you just have to be quick, and capture the moment- in those cases, I crop afterwards in Photoshop. I also use Photoshop to correct the exposure. That's it for digital trickery; I prefer to keep the original feel of a picture- if it's not good to begin with, no amount of post production will make it better. So producing bands is exactly the same as photographing them!
